About Me

I have been in practice as a massage therapist for 17 years, and during that time I have developed a bodywork style that is both therapeutic and holistic in nature.  My work integrates various massage modalities, including Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point/neuromuscular, sports and hot stone therapies.

My massage therapy training was completed at the New Mexico Academy of the Healing Arts (NMAHA), one of the nation's earliest massage schools located in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  I chose the Academy because its program of study combined a holistic approach with a solid academic foundation.  The NMAHA curriculum was comprised of 1100 hours of study and practice, including anatomy and physiology, Swedish and medical massage, ethics, and introductions to various massage and bodywork modalities.  I have since received additional training in Deep Tissue, Trigger Point/Neuromuscular, Sports Massage, Reflexology, Geriatric/Senior Massage, Reiki, and Massage for People Living with Cancer.

Upon graduation from NMAHA in 1994, I was certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and licensed in the State of New Mexico.  I have been a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association for 17 years and have recently been licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which passed legislation in 2010 requiring licensure for massage therapists.

My studies at the Academy gave me a foundation from which to develop a professional bodywork style that is holistic in nature, providing my clients with a relaxing and nurturing whole-body experience while also offering the benefits of specific therapeutic techniques for chronic structural problems and work- or sports-related injuries.  As a practitioner of mindfulness meditation and yoga, I seek to bring a quality of deep awareness and calm to my work.
